Uniquely CDS
Dance is a “performance” art and, therefore,
performance opportunities are essential to students’ training. It
allows the development of childrens’ artistry and confidence
enabling them to excel in the art of dancing.
What makes CBTB Academy performance opportunities
unique is the type and quality of performances offered to your
child. From large to small, from community to professional, the
Academy performances put emphasis on the quality of performance over
quality of costume. That is why out-of-pocket expenses on
costumes (if at all) are kept at a minimum.
Performance Opportunities
-
Various studio
showings and/or Open House performances throughout the year at the
CBTB studio.
-
A
late spring recital – generally scheduled every other year, open
to all Academy students and performed at a designated auditorium
or theater stage. Rehearsals occur during class time approximately
2-3 months prior to the performance.
-
A
spring luncheon fundraising event for the school’s professional
company, Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn – all Academy
students are eligible to participate. Rehearsals occur during
class time approximately 2-3 months prior to the performance.
-
Various
performances at Nursing Homes, Senior Residences and Libraries –
scheduled throughout the year.
-
Covenant Ballet Theatre of
Brooklyn’s public and educational performances – once or twice a
year. These concerts are open to the more advanced ballet students
to provide them with the invaluable opportunity to perform
alongside professional dancers. Mid- to Upper level ballet
students are eligible to audition. Rehearsals are scheduled
outside of class time.
-
Occasionally,
the Academy is notified of auditions and casting opportunities
with professional dance companies. CBTB encourages students to
participate. Details and scheduling is the responsibility of the
student
Are There Any Obligations To Perform?
All CBTB performance opportunities are voluntary. There may be
requirements and obligations to fulfill in order to participate,
such as volunteering, selling tickets, and performance fees. All
students are notified of these requirements or obligations prior to
auditions and rehearsals.
Benefits
There is no substitute for performing than to perform. Besides
improving technique, a young dancer should also be given the
opportunity to develop that allusive beauty known as “artistry.” It
is an expression of a dancer’s emotion through movements. CBTB
Academy is always looking for valuable ways to fully develop
the potentials of our young dancers.
