Arts in Education

Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn has provided numerous comprehensive arts education programs to public school students in Brooklyn and beyond, and has touched thousands of young students and helped schools attain the goals of Blueprint for Teaching & Learning in the Arts and the five strands of the NYC Department of Education dance standards.

 

​​​Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn (CBT) offers in-school residencies year-round. We are a DOE Sole Vendor (Code: COV015000) with the ability to customize residencies to match your expectations and needs.

Residency Programs

We have three IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM OFFERINGS, below.

1.    DANCE EXPLORATION PROJECT 

Students are introduced to three dance forms (ballet, modern, and jazz) with an emphasis on the history of the art form and cultivating movement literacy. Culminates in a dance-making workshop presentation based on a customized theme. Themes can be customized around STEM curricular goals and benchmarks, social studies, literature, etc. 

Grades: K-12

Length of residency: Customizable, 5-Weeks, 10-Weeks

2.    DANCE COLLABORATION PROJECT 
Students create a collaborative dance under the guidance of a professional choreographer, which can be centered around a customized theme that aligns with curricular goals. The creative process includes dance technique exploration, movement literacy, collaborative problem-solving, music appreciation, and physical skills such as stamina, poise, spatial awareness, physical expression, performance quality, and discipline.

Grades: 8-12, Recommended for in-school dance programs

Length of residency: Customizable, 5-Weeks, 10-Weeks

Opportunity to collaborate with CBT-2 and Covenant Ballet Theatre professional dance artists

​3.    DANCE EXPOSURE PROJECT 
Students are introduced to dance forms, dance-making, and attending a live ballet performance.

  1. An opportunity to attend a live, professional dance performance in Brooklyn 

  2. One (1) pre-performance customized workshop at your school;

  3. A post-performance Meet-the-Artist Q&A.
